Dante audio is the primary choice for ProAV system integrators and a growing number of broadcasters. It is widely adopted by over 600 manufacturers offering 4000+ Dante device types. Dante IP audio networking provides digital audio distribution over local and wide area networking with very low latency (<1 ms), using standard network hardware or connecting into a standard network infrastructure. This offers many advantages, including audio system scalability, ease of installation, and maintenance.
Dante allows uncompressed, multi-channel, low-latency, high-resolution digital audio to be distributed across a switched Ethernet network using standard TCP/IP protocols while meeting stringent quality and timing requirements of professional audio. For your peace of mind, Dante audio supports a redundant network topology with dual networks via a primary and secondary 1 GigE port on most Dante devices.
The DANTE-12GAM converter offers the power and flexibility of professional connectivity to plug and play into your existing SDI and Dante audio infrastructures.
The DANTE-12GAM-TR-BNC includes the BNC-TR-12G SFP, doubling the Dante conversion capacity, up to 64 channels.
The DANTE-12GAM-TR-LC includes the Fiber FIBERLC-TR-12G SFP, doubling the Dante conversion capacity, up to 64 channels.
Both SFP types can be swapped easily with the DANTE-12GAM to match the desired workflow. Customers can also upgrade to the dual channel version at any time by purchasing an optional license and adding either the BNC or LC Fiber SFP.
DANTE-12GAM Video SFP software upgrade License ($199 MSRP)
FIBERLC-TR-12G SFP ($559 MSRP)
BNC-TR-12G SFP ($559 MSRP)
In addition to Dante IP audio, the DANTE-12GAM also supports AES67, which is an open standard for IP audio developed by the Audio Engineering Society (AES). Dante and AES67 work together by leveraging AES67's interoperability to allow Dante devices to communicate with other AES67-compliant systems, enhancing the flexibility and integration capabilities of audio networks, greatly expanding the Dante audio ecosystem. This means you can integrate Dante systems with other IP audio systems that use AES67, such as RAVENNA, Livewire, and Q-LAN. To enable AES67 on Dante devices, you need to activate AES67 in Dante Controller software, which allows the Dante network to transmit and receive AES67 streams.
SMPTE ST 2110-30 is the SMPTE standard for transporting uncompressed audio over IP networks. The DANTE-12GAM also supports SMPTE ST 2110-30 IP audio, which is a component of the broader SMPTE ST 2110 IP AV suite. The SMPTE ST 2110 standard includes video, audio, ancillary data, and more, transporting the highest quality video and audio IP data streams over robust IP networks, typically in broadcast environments. The DANTE-12GAM can interoperate with other ST 2110-30 compliant devices via the Dante Controller software. The Dante audio network and the DANTE-12GAM both support Precision Time Protocol version 2 (PTPv2), ensuring synchronization across Dante and SMPTE ST 2110 networks. With its support of SMPTE ST 2110-30, the DANTE-12GAM is a powerful bridge between Dante and SMPTE networks in professional audio and broadcast applications.
The DANTE-12GAM utilizes a rugged new aluminum enclosure, offering a front panel display, physical push-button controls, USB-C connectivity for initial Static IP configuration, and active cooling designed with front-to-back airflow. The onboard display reports status and configuration and is paired with buttons for enter, back, up, and down for easy access to settings for standalone operation.
The DANTE-12GAM can also be monitored and controlled by a user friendly web UI served by its integrated web server. The web UI shows the system status and connections to the Dante audio network. It can be used to configure network settings and update firmware. Applicable controls and status information are mirrored on the LCD front display on the device.
Explore DANTE-12GAM Workflows here to visualize several common DANTE-12GAM implementations.
Here, the DANTE-12GAM is simultaneously disembedding 16-channels of audio from 12G-SDI from the video mixer into a Dante IP audio network while embedding 16-channels of Dante IP Audio into a 12G-SDI stream to be recorded onto our industry leading Ki Pro Ultra 12G digital recorder/player. The DANTE-12GAM is a powerful and space efficient solution for your IP audio conversion needs.
With the optional BNC SFP, DANTE-12GAM provides two 12G-SDI BNC ports for input and two ports for outputs, providing up to 16-channels of embedded audio support per SDI connection. This enables up to 64-channels of SDI/Dante conversion simultaneously. Audio can be bridged, mapped, and embedded from Dante sources into each SDI stream or disembedded from SDI and served to Dante destinations using Dante Controller software. This all adds up to 64-channels of audio conversion between SDI and Dante audio in a single compact device, ideal for live events, fly kits, OB vans, and facilities.
The DANTE-12GAM, with its optional LC Fiber SFP, doubles the capability of this highly portable converter to 64 bidirectional channels of embedding/disembedding. As illustrated in the workflow here, the DANTE-12GAM, using the SDI connectors, is doing 16-channels in and 16-channels out of embedding/disembedding from the Ki Pro Ultra 12G, for 32-channels total. With the installed LC Fiber SFP, you are doubling the channel count with an additional 16-channels of audio disembedding from the fiber connected broadcast camera while also embedding 16-channels of audio to the FS-HDR utilizing the fiber connections it supports via optional SFPs. All told, 64-channels of Dante IP audio embedding/disembedding are available in a compact, rock-solid device, tailor made for solving those last-minute production challenges.
In this workflow, the DANTE-12GAM activates a SMPTE ST 2110 IP audio workflow. The stadium camera with an attached shotgun mic is picking up the crowd noise, and the audio is disembedded from the SDI stream and converted to Dante audio to go into the audio mixer, held in sync by the grand master PTP clock connected to both the Dante and SMPTE networks. Dante Domain Manager software is required to configure the Dante audio stream for it to be also recognized as a 2110-30 AoIP and send that into the SMPTE network for mixing and eventual distribution.
Use Audinate’s Dante Controller software to set up the audio routing between Dante devices and, when necessary, to update your software. Use this application to set up the audio routing between Dante devices, control the audio connections in the Dante setup, and move audio in real-time over an Ethernet network.
Use Audinate’s Dante Domain Manager to manage the Dante network. It supports setting up authentication, security, and other similar attributes for management of various network architectures and is required for SMPTE ST 2110-30 workflows.
Use Audinate’s Dante Via to configure audio devices to appear on the Dante network; for example, you can make the stereo audio portion of AJA's U-TAP appear as two audio source channels on the Dante network.
Audinate Dante Virtual Soundcard software emulates a physical PC or Mac soundcard, but instead of connecting to actual physical audio devices like a microphone, it connects to the Dante network. It can receive audio signals from the Dante network, including the DANTE-12GAM, and present them to your DAW app just like a physical soundcard would.
