“Just Let Go” debuted this fall in select theatres nationwide as a one-night affair hosted by Fathom Events. Starring Henry Ian Cusick, the drama follows devoted father Chris Williams, as he struggles to forgive the young drunk driver responsible for taking the lives of his loved ones. Propel Pictures handled post production for the film and enlisted Color Grading Central Owner Denver Riddle to color it. In search of a reliable, Thunderbolt™-powered SDI device for monitoring during post, Riddle built AJA T-TAP™ into his workflow for the project.

Comprising an Apple^® MacPro^® with AMD^® Dual FirePro™ 700 GPUs, Apple^® Final Cut Pro^® X for editorial, Color Finale for grading and a T-TAP for monitoring to a calibrated display, the pipeline enabled real time render and playback of source material captured from a RED Epic™ camera. T-TAP simplified the monitoring setup for Riddle and his team in post. They quickly connected the Thunderbolt cable from the MacPro to the T-TAP and hooked it up to a Flanders Scientific reference monitor via HD-SDI.

“I love how small and elegant the T-TAP is,” Riddle shared. “And, that there’s no need for an external power supply because it’s bus powered; it’s truly a plug and play device. Configuration with FCPX was also so simple. We just had to enable 'A/V Output’ under the ‘Window’ menu.”

After the team completed the grade in Rec709 color space, the film was converted to DCI XYZ for theater projection before making its debut on September 28, 2015. “Just Let Go” will also be available soon via digital distribution inlcuding iTunes and Netflix.
