Grass Valley, CA - AJA Video Systems, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion solutions, announced the immediate availability of version 2.0 firmware for their award-winning Ki Pro portable digital video recording device. The AJA Ki Pro is a portable, rugged tapeless video recording device that records high-quality Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime files onto computer-friendly media.
Ki Pro version 2.0 includes:
- 8 Channel embedded audio support--Choose between two channels or eight channels of audio via embedded SDI
- Multi-unit gang recording via the Web UI--Use the Web UI and Ethernet connections to Ki Pro units on a common network to start and stop recording
- Custom clip naming--Allows users to define their own naming convention using the front panel UI or the Web UI
- RS-422 support--Allows interaction with select serial control devices and non-linear editors
“This latest software release further extends the workflow flexibility afforded by Ki Pro,” said Nick Rashby, President of AJA Video Systems. “With RS-422 device control, multi-unit gang recording and 8 channel embedded audio we’re helping our customers save valuable production time, while maintaining the highest possible image quality.”
The AJA Ki Pro features SD/HD-SDI, HDMI, and analog inputs, and allows users to interface with virtually any type of camera or video source they may own or rent. Ki Pro’s numerous simultaneous outputs enable flexible monitoring, connecting to both professional and consumer monitors. Intuitive to operate, Ki Pro’s familiar VTR-like buttons provide immediate controls for basic operation. From a distance, users can control Ki Pro with a laptop or iPhone web browser via ethernet or wireless connection. And now, through its own Avid Media Access Architecture (AMA), Avid enables users to connect the AJA Ki Pro to Mac-based Media Composer and Symphony systems to instantly view, edit and play back ProRes QuickTime files with access to all clip metadata.
Ki Pro Version 2.0 firmware is available now as a free download to all Ki Pro customers.
