Yahoo! Sports hosts Charissa Thompson and Tiki Barber sat down with dozens of guests, from Hugh Jackman and Sugar Ray Leonard to Phil Simms, Marshall Faulk, Joe Montana, Jerome Bettis, Jason Witten and more.

Three Panasonic HVX200 cameras captured the interviews directly into a NewTek TriCaster TCXD850 portable live production system. AJA’s Ki Pro, a portable tapeless video recorder, worked as a master deck, recording Apple ProRes files. Editors then took those high-quality files directly into Apple Final Cut Pro running on MacBook Pro laptops, added opens and closes and cleaned up interviews, which were posted within minutes to the Yahoo! Sports website.

Darryl Newman of Dallas-based value added reseller Videotex Systems, Inc was the technical director for Yahoo! Sports in the Superbowl Media Center. "Having Ki Pro in the mix gave us the ability to stream live and also have an immediate, high quality master of the switched interviews. Without Ki Pro we would have had to spend time transcoding the MPEG2 files into ProRes for editing. With this workflow we just popped the Ki Pro drives out and brought the ProRes files right to the editors, who dropped them directly onto their timelines. Some of the finished segments were uploaded within a matter of minutes."
